My partner and I went to the Doctor on Monday and this is what came out of it....
My partner was put on Clomid 50mg, this drug is said to either allow the ovaries to "drop" multiple eggs or to help form 1 robust egg thus increasing the chances of conception. The chances of multiple births is only 8% with this drug taken orally. According to our doctor the less follicles you have the higher dosage of Clomid. My partners ovaries were also checked again yesterday and she has 10 in her left ovary and 12 in her right I believe it was. This is a good count and my partner has no known fertility issues so 50mg was a good dosage according to the doctor.
Our doctor gave us our run down for the next wk and a half before our first IUI...
We are to order our vials through the clinic, they will be directly shipped to their office
Then, this Friday we go back for an HSS and an SIS- this is done to examine her Uterus and Fallopian Tubes to make sure everything is normal before we pay for IUI
Starting on Sunday we use our ovulation predictor - getting a smiley is not a plus this time as it was for the Fallopian Tube sonogram back in Nov.
On Weds we will visit the clinic and have her Follicles checked for developing eggs, during this visit we are to bring the Ovidrel we ordered
Ovidrel is an injectable drug used to stimulate the follicle to release the egg/eggs it is about $60
for the medicine and should be refridgerated except for its excursion to the fertility clinic.
Then, most likely on Thurs they will perform our first IUI (fingers crossed), they may do back to back IUI's Thurs/Fri if we choose that option, we have not decided.
