So we went to the doctor yesterday and received alittle more info. My partner was put on Clomid (Clomiphene) which from what the doctor told us has about an 8% chance of causing the release of multiple eggs but is mostly used to help create one robust egg to increase our chances of conception. My partner does not have an fertility issues and the doctor was well aware of this but thought this was a good route to take.
We then had a look at her ovaries which she has 10 follicles in one and 12 follicles in the other. From what the Doc was telling us if you have less follicles they up the dosage of Clomid but if you have alot of Follicles they stick with 50 mg. This prescription was not bad in price at the pharmacy, I was told it was expensive but we only paid $9.00.
We are at the point where we order sperm and this is going to be done through our Doctor's office and the California Cryobank. We simply let our doctor's office know the donor # and how we are paying for the vials and it is shipped to the doctor's office.
We also have to order the medicine for an injectable drug which stimulates the release of the egg. It is called Ovidrel our doctor recommeneded rodering this shot from Freedom Fertility Pharmacy as it is only $60.00 as opposed to $100 locally. This medicine is to be refrigerated and is allowed an excursion to the doctors office but if not used must be put back in the fridge. We are to bring this with us on the day before we inseminate in order to release the egg.
Our next appt is this Friday for an HSS and an SIS
