I am finally feeling up to writing a blog. After having 5 mature follicles and back to back IUI's we had a Chemical Pregnancy. We did HPT's since Sat and on Monday we got a faint pink line but didnt get ourselves excited as we wanted to wait til the bloodtest, which we had today. The bloodtest came back with a level of 5 and since we had already had 2 positive tests followed by two negative tests this wasnt a big surprise but disappointing none the less.
When our Doctor called she asked if we had taken any at home HPT's and we told her we did and had gotten two positive tests and she said then this is most likely a Chemical Pregnancy, in which the egg is fertilized, implants and begins to secrete hcg and then is lost a few days later for chromosomial defects, I believe she said. It is basically an early pregnancy miscarriage.
We are definitly bummed, my partner is tired of all the tracking and meds and this was our first try. On a good note we learned that for a fact everything is working just fine down there and that the donor sperm is good.
So heres to another cycle, maybe not one with 5 follicles as that was stressful. ;)
